SJN Film Series - Women's Night: "Pray the Devil Back to Hell"

Come for a short film (72 minutes) celebrating the power of Christian and Muslim women working together to bring peace to their country, Liberia. This is an empowering story about the faith of a group of powerless women to peacefully bring about change in their country. Wine and dessert will be served, and a short informal discussion of the film will follow. All women of the parish are invited. High school girls are welcome, but please be advised that there are some graphic descriptions of violence toward women in the movie.

Hosted by Hilary Olson and Nancy Biehler.

Description of the movie:
Director Gini Reticker and producer Abigail E. Disney's documentary tells the story of the thousands of Liberian women, both Christian and Muslim, who helped end the bloody civil war in 2003 that killed over 200,000 people. Through nonviolent protests, these brave women forced a resolution in the peace talks, and their efforts led to the election of Africa's first female head of state, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
