St. John Neumann Strategic Planning Committee Report (June 21, 2009)

From the results of the visioning sessions and the surveys, the strategic planning committee has identified the five areas that will be further studied as the parish moves along in the planning process. Aside from the completion of the church, which is of utmost concern to everyone, these five areas surfaced as being of greatest interest, so study groups will be researching these areas, preparing various options for addressing each by the fall of this year.

Vision

That St. John Neumann Catholic Church is actively and deeply engaged as a Christ-centered parish community where children, youth and adults learn about their Catholic faith, witnessing God’s grace and in service to others.

Five Strategies (and study group chairs) for St. John Neumann

Children's Faith Formation: In collaboration with parents, provide an atmosphere that promotes lifelong learning of solid Catholic teachings designed to form active, loving Catholic Christians. Chair: Karen May

Youth Ministry: Provide a stimulating environment that leads middle school and high school-aged youth into relationship with God through spiritual, educational, emotional and social experiences, motivating them to deepen their encounter with Christ. Chair: David Baker

Adult Faith Formation: Provide educational opportunities rooted in solid Catholic teachings which seek to support the value of lifelong learning, while guiding adults not only in their faith journey, but in the goal of achieving balance in day-to-day living. Chair: Jan Roesslein

Outreach to those in need: Promote community outreach efforts, and at the same time foster a spirit of personal reflection that serves to connect outreach efforts with the values inherent in our Catholic faith so as to deepen a relationship with Christ. Chair: Laura Campbell

Strengthen SJN Community: Provide a nurturing atmosphere that encourages and sustains the participation of parishioners in all SJN activities. Promote those activities that seek to build upon our strengths as a community; at all times serving as a beacon of Christ’s love. Chair: Rick Ybarra
